As building regulations continue to evolve, builders are facing increasing pressure to deliver compliant outcomes while maintaining efficiency on site.

At Stoddarts, supporting builders through these changes goes beyond supplying products. It’s about providing practical technical expertise, real world compliance support and innovative solutions that work at scale.

That’s where the Stoddarts Technical Advice Team plays a critical role.

Led by Compliance & International Trade Manager Jaco Orr and Technical Compliance Manager Stephen Lester, the team works closely with builders, subcontractors and internal teams to help interpret and apply National Construction Code (NCC) requirements across residential construction projects.

Their focus is simple - turning complex compliance requirements into practical, buildable solutions that help projects stay on track.

The team provides support across:

  • NCC compliance interpretation
  • Product suitability and specification advice
  • Installation guidance for site teams
  • Technical troubleshooting and issue resolution
  • Training and technical advice resources

With extensive experience across high volume residential construction, the team understands the importance of solutions that are not only compliant, but practical, scalable and efficient to deliver.

Driving innovation through compliance

Beyond technical advice, the team also works across the business to support product innovation and research and development initiatives designed to help builders respond to changing industry requirements.

Most recently, the team played a key role in responding to the new NCC 2023 ventilation compliance changes affecting Climate Zones 6, 7 and 8.

The updated requirements introduced significant changes to roof ventilation performance for metal roofing systems, creating new challenges for builders across the industry.

In response, Stoddarts developed an innovative Passive Roof Ventilation Solution incorporating the EaveFlo and RidgeFlo systems to help builders achieve compliant airflow outcomes under the new NCC requirements.

The solution was developed through collaboration between the Technical Advice Team and teams across operations, estimating, sales, marketing, corporate development and compliance to fast track the innovation to market.

Feedback from builders and industry partners has been extremely positive, with strong interest in the solution’s ability to deliver a practical, compliant and scalable approach to meeting the new ventilation requirements.

The project highlights Stoddarts’ ability to combine technical expertise, product innovation and national delivery capability to help builders adapt quickly to industry change.

More than technical advice

What sets Stoddarts apart is the ability to connect technical compliance with practical delivery outcomes.

Rather than simply interpreting regulations, the Technical Advice Team works alongside builders to help implement compliant solutions through Stoddarts’ products, trade services and national operational footprint.

It’s all part of Stoddarts’ commitment to delivering a better way to build.
